I will be going to meet up with someone else who I have a b'day present for - and who wants to buy Leopard. But I'm not planning on being there until pretty much 6pm and leaving shortly thereafter to retire to the nearest pub.

Give her some of her own medicine. When you notice her noticing you, before she can turn to make it to the backroom, let out an ungodly scream of, "Oh my god, she's in bed with the CIA and has bugged my house in order to know when I will be coming to the Apple Store so that she can be here before me!" and turn and run out of the store, making sure you run into any cardboard displays as well as the security machines that beep when you try to steal stuff. That way she'll know how it feels to be indirectly accused of being a creepy stalker.

Who cares about Expose. Give me Multi-Touch Gesturing like I have on iPad 2. 4-5 finger swipe accross apps, 4-5 finger swipe up to show the mult-tasking pane; 4-5 finger pinch-close to get to the home screen........What can beat that??????

Let me just say, that as complacent as Canadian's appear, **** with our Universal Health Care, and there will be rioting (Edit: tasteful demonstrations) in the streets.
The Provincial government has made quite enough cut-backs, TYVM.
Again- do not underestimate them. Don't think for one minute that they won't try it. The people are not their concern.

Agreed, it's the carrier that sets the time, not the device.
I sleep with my AT&T iPhone set to airplane mode so that it won't disturb me in the night - when I woke up this morning, it was still on the old time. (Good thing I wasn't relying on any alarms)
As soon as I switched off airplane mode, allowing it to access the cell network, it correctly jumped forward an hour to daylight savings time.

and in september iPad 3 will move to #1 spot putting iPad 2 in second and original iPad in 3rd. And in 2012 iPad 4 will move to first...but i digress.
First off, leave my post alone.
Secondly you will see iPad 3 as early as September if competition is stiff. Only if iPad 2 retains major market share will Apple will delay release of iPad 3 until 2012, thus extending revenues from iPad 2.

I did plan on building myself but I might get the store to do it for me. I have done HDD, GPUS, CD drives, Ram. I'm just have not done the CPU and I am affraid I will bend all the bits on it. Also all the cords that attach everywhere might confuse me, like power on button.
Would I need to overclock the 930 system, never done a thing like that before. Does it really add to the ppd, also I will be using the system myself so it will not fold 24/7.
Would a good GPU not be better then a Intel 930?
if you get an i7 930: you can run bigadv units, but you will need to overclock at least some. if you build the system yourself, an slight overclock is very easy (my motherboad has a 'dummy overclock' setting to set it to 3.2 ghz).
with bigadv units and the smp2 units, you get a bonus for how quick you return the work unit. a 930 at 4.0 ghz is about the same as a 2 x 2.26 ghz mac pro. but 4.0 ghz isn't easy.
so, if you don't feel like overclocking at least a little bit, you can just run the smp2 units. they still give a bonus, just they are worth less points.
GPUs use more power and create more heat. the big GPUs use a ton of power and cost quite a bit of money. i can look into a GPU vs 930 more later if you like.
the reason i recommend the 930 is b/c you can always add a GPU down the road.
also, i've not had that great of an experience building my own, so i kinda recommend buying one already built

I'm considering a Macbook Air in the next refresh, likely an 11 inch. It will be my first Mac in 13 years - I had one throughout high school, but switched to Windows for university. The MBA will be used as a second computer. What I'm hoping to see:
1. An SD slot for the 11 inch - I'm a blogger and would like to be able to upload pictures without the use of a converter or hooking my camera up to the computer
2. A lighter-weight machine - maybe down to 2 lb for the 11" and 2.5 lb for the 13"
I don't really care whether they bring back a backlit keyboard or not - I was taught to type without looking at the keyboard and have pretty much memorized where all the keys are.
What about you? How likely are we going to see lighter machines in the next refresh?

Be careful. Usually any software updates render it useless. And re-installing it won't help either. Turn auto update off.

Bloggers always go overboard on this stuff. It is clear that Apple is trying to protect their "iPod" brand, not attack "podcast" per se...
See the Zdnet dicussion of this, which includes an excerpt of a letter from Apple which specifically excludes "podcast" as a term they are seeking to protect...

What will the future of air travel holds?
1. Boomless supersonic jet (NYC to LAX in 2.5 hours).
2. inexpensive jetblue/southwest flight in continent, price point $200 round trip, todays money of course
3. weight/bag restriction to increase fuel economy-saving us money
4. packing sardines even tighter allowing more seats (I hope this will not come to pass).
5. computer/machine pilot (yes, they can handle landing and take-off)--eliminating overpaid pilots and terrorism too
6. no food service (don't worry no one will starve to death, we are in a middle of a obesity epidemic for god sake)- saving weight and money
7. reduce flight attendance by at least 50% (no food see above), and add a "useful" security guard to control rowdy passenger - saving us money
If you can't reduce the weight of a LCD or OLED or whatever screen, don't add it to every seats. I think the future is clear and it looks like it will diverge into two paths. 1) basic travel that allows people to do it more frequently or 2) travel in comfort and pay more thus less frequent travel. I'm not talking about first class travel here.
Think about it, wouldn't you want to travel anywhere in the US more frequently say 7+ times a year, or 1 or 2 times a year and have all the amenities (meal, iPod, movies and overpaid pilots)?
Tune in your fear and imagine the possibility with me:D

8. Couldn't give a toss (aka Ryanair). Like we're going to give you anything.
9. You can't take that piece of electronics through sir. It could be used by trrrrrroooooiiiisssts [think Team 'merica here].

Anything beats the embarrassment that Apple has in the current iOS.
how do you mean, specifically? neither me, my gf, or my dad have ever had an opportunity to bemoan this functionality. how does it impair our ability or cause us embarrassment?

I remember Spock from Star Trek basically made a comment about TV like that. I believe the episode was called "Bread and Circuses". Spock didn't say Scary but since he is half human he probably thought that.
When I read the comment, I too had a trek association. I thought of the ST:TNG season one ender "The Neutral Zone" in which Data remarked that television went out of style in 2030. In 1988, when the show aired, that was unthinkable to most people. In it's not so outlandish of an idea.

It's funny how the capitalists are all for a free market...until it starts working against them.
DING DING DING we have a winner.
Yeah, downloads 'might' be less expensive to sell, because you have no B&M store, no packaging, no shipping, etc etc. But downloads have their costs too: servers (lots of them), bandwidth (lots of it), etc etc. Totally different delivery mechanisms, but doesn't automatically mean that one is cheaper than the other to 'deliver'.
Target and Wal-Mart and other big box stores occasionally fight small communities for the free market 'right' to open a store. But they bitch and moan when someone new sells a similar product in a new and innovative way.
Should work both ways, guys - an equal market is an equal market. Unless you want competitors to be less 'equal' than you. (not very eloquent, but you get the drift).
There is a brand new Target open just a couple miles from me... that I haven't been tempted yet to step foot into. Target's stance on this issue seals the deal... I won't be venturing into that shiny brand new store.

If people are the greatest asset then paying people to diminish that asset is a very dumb idea.
That's a little simplistic don't you think?
One would assume that you'd also be pro gun control, pro universal healthcare and anti military if not "diminish[ing] that asset" was truly so important to you.
Somehow, I doubt that you're consistent in your stance.

You are absolutely correct. We should only compare dual-processor Apple computers to other dual-processor computers. Please list your benchmarks for a dual-processor Dell, HP/Compaq, or Gateway personal computer.

Normal people need to type documents, play little flash/java web games that their friends mail them, view youtube videos, facebook, and watch movies.
I'd say current tablets can really only do half of that well. A tablet with a slide out keyboard and Flash&Java could do the other half :p
